Gift Aid

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a scheme administered by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, (H.M.R.C.) This allows the Church to claim a payment on voluntary donations. This is currently 25 pence for every pound donated. (U.K. Sterling).

Do I qualify?

If you reside within the United Kingdom and pay tax at the standard or higher rate, you will qualify but….you must ensure that as a Donor, you are paying an amount of tax, at least equal to the amount that would be claimed under the Gift Aid Scheme.

How do I join the Scheme?

The first thing you need to do is, download a Gift Aid Declaration form, either for an enduring donation or for a one off amount, (available from the downloads page) and once completed, hand or send the form to Tom Eames, (Treasurer of the P.C.C.) Cotley House, Cotley, Chard, TA20 3EP.

How do I make the Payments?

There are a number of ways you can make a payment:- you can make regular payments by a standing order, (available from the downloads page), or by placing your donation, (cash or cheque), in a Gift Aid envelope available from the Church and placing it in the donation box on the wall in the Church. Please ensure your details are put on the envelope, to ensure that we claim the correct amount. Alternatively, you can place your envelope donation, (with personal details), onto the plate during regular Church Services. If wished, an online payment facility is available to use through our secure payments system.

Are my personal details held secure?

Your personal details are known only to the treasurer, who as a member of the P.C.C. Is responsible for the scheme. No other member of the P.C.C. will have access to this information. The exception being, if we are required by law to release these details. i.e. H.M.R.C.

The final aggregated amount, claimed from all donations under the scheme, will be shown on the annual accounts.
